The LAzy Witch 3
5 more simple spells to celebrate samhain
The lazy witch is back!
Obviously I’ve been taking my lazy status very seriously seeing that it’s been 3 years since I last put one of these together but the time is upon us to learn another set of simple spells to celebrate Samhain that even the laziest of witches can put together.
If you’re new around here, I’ve been interested in spells and witchcraft since I was a pre-teen but often felt that to truly get into practicing it would take a lot of time, energy, and materials. However! When I hit my thirties I realized that doesn’t have to be the case at all! You can easily find spells that work for the level of effort you’re willing to exert and thus, the Lazy Witch came to be.
For this year I’ve scoured the internet and put together another set of simple spells to help you celebrate Samhain and once you’ve made your way through these be sure to check out The Lazy Witch and The Lazy Witch 2 for even more simple spells!
As always, practice witchcraft, spell casting, and general magic at your own risk! There are no guarantees that these spells will provide the desired outcome so just go in with an open mind and with the intention to have some fun.
5 more simple spells to celebrate Samhain
Apple Peel Divination for Love
For this spell you will need:
An apple
A pairing knife (or small knife of any kind)
Take your apple and pairing knife (obviously be careful since knives do often tend to be sharp)
While holding your apple, use the pairing knife to slowly begin peeling the apple
Try to keep the peel in one whole piece for as long as possible while peeling
Once the peel has come off in one longer piece, toss it over your shoulder
The peel should curl up into or land in the shape of a letter
This letter will be the initial of your next romantic partner
Return to Sender - Energy Return Spell
For this spell you will need:
A piece of paper
A black pen or marker
A white candle
A heat proof bowl
Matches or lighter
Light your candle
Using your pen or marker and piece of paper, write down the energy you would like to return. Be specific.
Hold the paper and say the following:
By the power of the universe I cast this spell
Return to sender, it’s not mine to dwell
With harm to none and intentions pure
I send it back, this I am sure
May it find its origin, it is clear to see
And be returned so mote it be
Hold the paper over the flame and visualize the energy returning to its source as it burns
Place the burning paper in the heat proof bowl until the paper turns to ashes
Extinguish the candle
Dispose of the ashes how you see fit (burial, on the wind, etc.)
Pumpkin Seed Prosperity
For this spell you will need:
Seven (7) pumpkin seeds
A green bag small enough to carry on your person
Gather 7 pumpkin seeds
Place into your small green bag or pouch
Carry this bag of pumpkin seeds on your person for 7 days to attract abundance and prosperity
Simmer Pot
*There are all kinds of different recipes for simmer pots so feel free to Google until you find a scent combo that works best for you!*
For this spell you will need:
A stove or countertop burner
Thirteen (13) whole cloves
Three (3) cinnamon sticks
Vanilla extract
Ground nutmeg
Granny smith apple OR orange peels
Pot of water
Fill a pot with water and put it on your stove or burner at high heat
Add your cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, and fruit peelings
Bring to a boil
Once a rolling boil has been reached, lower heat to a simmer
Allow the pot to simmer for an hour or two, filling your home with the magic and energy of Samhain
For this spell you’ll need:
To set an intention on what you want to focus on in the next year
A costume that represents something you’d like to focus on in the coming year (ex: if you want to feel powerful and secure in yourself maybe dress as a witch or goddess. If you want to focus on upping your sex appeal and attraction to others a vampire might work best. Or if you want to focus on creating a better connection to nature (witches are big into nature of course) dress as an animal. Choose what best represents your desires! Be creative!)
Samhain is considered the Pagan or Wiccan new year so for this spell, it’s all about setting yourself up for success in the new year! Dress in a costume that represents something you want to focus on in the coming year as a way to let the universe know your intentions and desires. The costume doesn't have to be store bought, in fact this spell might work better if you piece it together thrift style, thinking of your intention the whole time.
Hopefully you’ll be able to have a little fun and add a little bit of magic to your Samhain celebrations by checking out some of these spells. Let me know which you’ll be trying this year in the comments below and be sure to check out my other The Lazy Witch posts here and here for more ideas!
